#TBT ~ Eastern Counties BNG886B

This week's Throw Back Thursday continues with the Eastern Counties Bristol/ECW double decker theme with another example photographed at Castle Meadow in Norwich.

As another passes, LFS 86 is seen at Castle Meadow during late 1970's/ early 1980s.

Today's subject is LFS 86 BNG886B which made many appearances at Great Yarmouth's Wellington Road Bus Station. The 60 seated bus was new in July 1964 and thanks to Rob Sly's Illustrated History I can tell you it was withdrawn from the 'Counties' passenger fleet sometime during 1981. It was subsequently renumbered as X83 and earmarked for conversion to a vintage replica but the work was never undertaken

It saw further service use with Cambus from September 1984 where it was also employed as a driver trainer.It transferred to Viscount Bus & Coach exactly five years later before withdrawal in December 1990. During 1992, a Hull dealer acquired it and reduced its height to four metres. He also refurbished the interior and installed a bar area.

By January 1994 it had moved abroad with its new owner being the London Bus Company of Maastricht. Whilst in Holland it was used as an English themed pub and received the registration BE-15-54. In October 2002 it was bought by Piet Verbeek and moved to Wijk en Aalborg. Rob Sly's last reported sighting of it was in late 2003, although Syd Eade has a photo of it still in use during August 2014.
