Stagecoach Bid Farewell To Kings Lynn

Kings Lynn has always been a favourite place of mine to visit for photographs with lots going on all the time and a varied selection of Operators always on hand. Stagecoach have made the decision to finish the majority of their operations in the town leaving only a couple of routes running, including the long running 505 service between Lynn and Spalding.

Andy Swan travelled up to Kings Lynn on Saturday to record the last workings of Stagecoach. I remember one of my trips in 2011 to record the last day of First's operations in the town, only the Excel service remains of course with First.

With the departure of Stagecoach Julian Patterson's Lynxbus will continue to operate in the town with his growing fleet of smartly turned out Optare Tempos and a selection of Volvo Geminis along with a couple of Optare Spectras to add the mix. He also has a Heritage fleet including Leyland Olympians and the famous Red National of course!.

Lynx have also taken over a section of the Coasthopper Route between Kings Lynn and Fakenham which takes in the Coastal stops of Hunstanton, Wells plus Walsingham and Burnham Market. Recent Tempo arrival from Transdev Lancashire YJ60KAO now carries Coasthopper branding and is seen above laying over at the Bus Station.

Finally the Norwich to Peterborough section of the X1 route has been rebranded simply Excel and vehicles operating this section now wear new branding for the service, Enviro 33810 YX63LJV is pictured above with the new destination and branding applied. Vehicles are now split between Norwich Vulcan Road Depot and Vancouver Avenue in Kings Lynn with drivers now working some Norwich duties as part of their daily roster.

Many Thanks to Andy Swan for use of his photos on what looked a very damp day!

Grahame.
