With reports being a little thin on the ground at the moment and, with a plan cross the border to Lowestoft, I thought I would look in at First’s Gasworks Road depot to see if there was anything worth photographing there this afternoon.

There's just the one retrospective entry regarding local bus operations in today's East of England Traffic Commissioner's Notices and Proceedings Report.
First Eastern Counties has amended the route, start and finish point and the timetable of its 981 service between the Transport Museum at Carlton Colville and East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston from 31st August 2025.

The latest news from First Great Yarmouth is that 47645 SN15 AFE has successfully passed its MOT and returned to Lowestoft. Similar 47646 SN15 AFF and 47647 SN15 AFJ have been booked in for theirs. The photo of 47645 was taken by Mark Doggett in September last year.

Brylaine’s former First Eastern Counties Volvo B7TL Wright Eclipse Gemini YJ06 XKK was observed in Spalding Bus Station yesterday. Numbered 37021 in the First fleet, it shows evidence of its past use in the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft area. It was the first double deck bus to gain the new Coastal Red livery in June 2021.

Regular contributor Dan High was in his normal position on Castle Meadow in Norwich this morning when he saw First Eastern Counties 33573 SN58 ENR on the 28 to Thorpe Marriott. It was the first time the ADL Enviro400 has appeared in revenue earning service this year and was recorded on Bus Times as last being in use in early December.

Former First Eastern Counties Coastliner ADL Enviro400 33807 YX63 LJN entered service with First Essex earlier today after its repaint in First Ultraviolet colours. It is pictured in Chelmsford by Dale Bell on the X70 to Colchester.

First Great Yarmouth allocated green liveried Wright StreetLite 63320 SK65 PXA was observed at First Lowestoft depot this afternoon and apparently is being transferred to First Ipswich tomorrow. It went from Norwich to Great Yarmouth on loan in September last year with its move made permanent later in the month.
This morning I received an email from Niall Spencer who said the photo of the First driver training vehicle featuring in yesterday’s post reminded him of his sighting of it on the A1 near Newark on Wednesday 7th January.

The latest update from First Great Yarmouth is that Coastal Reds Volvo B9 37578 AU58 EDJ returned to duties yesterday after having a new gearbox fitted. An early photo of 37578 is shown here on Beaconsfield Road in Great Yarmouth on 14th November 2013
MOTs are due today for Volvo B9s 37725 YJ09 OBW and open top 37533 CRZ 166. Incidentally open top 37068 CRZ 599 passed its recent MOT as evident from Tuesday’s post.

Another First Essex saloon has transferred to First Eastern Counties at Norwich. Wright Eclipse bodied Volvo B7RLE 69518 BJ11 ECT was observed in St Stephen’s Street earlier this evening on the 38 to Tuckswood.

Our last post reported the unusual use of First’s Great Yarmouth Transport Heritage liveried Volvo B9 37562 FJ08FYN on the X1 service to Norwich. Jon was on hand to see it return on an X11 service to Belton via Great Yarmouth Market Gates Bus Station.

The latest update from First Great Yarmouth includes the news that Enviro400 33815 YX63 LKD requires a new engine. It is pictured negotiating Middleton Road roundabout from Church Road on divert following the closure of Gorleston High Street in October 2020.
Similar 36215 BJ12 VWX and Wright StreetLite 47484 SN64CNV should return to the road if they pass their MOTs scheduled for today. (both did subsequently pass)

The two partial open top Coastal Clipper Cabriolets, transferred from First Great Yarmouth to South Wales for use on the Tenby Coaster, have been withdrawn for scrap.They were 37057 YJ06 XMH and 37059 YJ06 XML which were delivered respectively from Norfolk in March and February last year.

Two former Norwich Park and Ride ADL Enviro400s have returned to Norfolk for use on services in the County. Previously based at Clacton in Hedingham Konectbus colours, they were both transferred north in early January.
