Service Alterations Registered ~ 8th March 2017

Today's PSV Notices and Proceedings Report contains no information concerning further changes to our local bus services. However, the East of England Traffic Commissioner's publication reports a formal warning for Paul Simon Whincop operating from The Street Garage in Peasenhall near Saxmundham under Section 17 of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act of 1981.

More On Anglianbus Changes

Anglianbus has provided more information on their website concerning changes to local services from Tuesday 18th April 2017

61 Kessingland - Lowestoft - Gorleston - JPH - Great Yarmouth
A 30 minute frequency between Kessingland and Lowestoft Tesco will be maintained plus an hourly service will continue on to Great Yarmouth, however, there will be some longer gaps at peak times. To be commended is that the route between Gorleston and Yarmouth will serve Gapton Hall Retail Park, instead of Southtown Road and will also link to Cobholm's Tesco Extra store. Unfortunately the Sunday operation will be withdrawn due to low usage.

71 Belton - Great Yarmouth
Following insufficient support this route will be withdrawn with First Norfolk & Suffolk continuing to provide services to Belton..

80A Harleston - Bungay High School
This route continues unchanged although withdrawal is expected at the end of the school summer term due to low patronage.

81 Bungay - Beccles - Great Yarmouth
There has also been insufficient support for this route so it will be withdrawn. BorderBus service 580 continues to serve most stops on this route.

88/X88/88A Southwold - Halesworth - Bungay - Norwich
A number of detailed adjustments have been made whilst retaining the same number of journeys to improve punctuality.

88B Wrentham - Southwold - Bungay High School
Service 88B is withdrawn with alternative facilities aavailable on service 60S or service BH272 which will be extended beyond Blyford via Halesworth Road to Southwold Kings Head and thence via North Cove to Wrentham. The extension of 60S and BH272 has yet to be confirmed.

Help Wanted ~ Norfolk Motor Services

This weekend I have been contacted by David Grimmett asking for some help which I hope some readers can assist with.

David says 'This October marks the 50th anniversary of The Essex Coast Express which became part of an enlarged East Anglian Express. To celebrate the occasion, I am writing a book on the two pools and also giving a talk to The Omnibus Society in Ipswich in April incidentally to which all are invited.

The book contains chapters on the pool members and I am having little success with the history of Norfolk Motor Services. Do you know anyone who is knowledgeable on the company and could help?'

I have already provided David with information appearing on the blog, so are there any readers out there that can help? If so, can you contact David by email at davidgrimmett@btconnect.com
Thanks in advance

Latest from Ipswich

We often venture down to Suffolk to follow the happenings in Ipswich and David Warren has sent us a selection of photos reflecting the latest happenings in the county town.

Ipswich Buses will no longer operate the Park and Ride services in the town and the first of their fleet of ex Nottingham Optare Versas bought for the service has been repainted into a version of the companies standard colours, YK08EPV is seen above at Simon Morris fresh out of the paintshop.

Ipswich Buses are also using YN66BBV, A Scania N250UD, Alexander Dennis E400 MMC on trial for its town services, it was previously in use with Reading Buses, a similar type is currently being trialled by First at Kings Lynn for the X1 services.

They are also using an Optare Solo SR on trial which was recently in use with another Suffolk operator Galloway of Mendlesham, YJ16DDA is seen above whilst in use on their 118 service to Framlingham

The operations of Carters Services of Capel St Mary were purchased recently by Ipswich Buses and the vehicles are now gaining Ipswich Buses fleet names on their previous owners livery, former Stagecoach London/Tower Transit ALX400 LX04FYB is pictured above at the Old Cattle Market Bus Station.

Many Thanks to David Warren for his excellent photographs as always.

Seafront Sightings

Travelling along Great Yarmouth's Marine Parade this morning I observed three coaches parked close to the Carlton Hotel.

Whilst the 'clients' were partaking of their breakfasts at the hotel, I was able to grab a couple of photos of the trio. Parked on its own outside the SeaLife Centre was rare Shearings Holidays visitor Setra 632 BG63VVN.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the road were two National Holidays' Setras with NH13VWH stationed in front of NH13DWH
