With Lockdown now well and truly the norm at present it seems typical that lots of transport changes are taking place but only a handful can be recorded on camera with a case of right place, right time being the best scenario if you are exercising or on a shopping trip of course!.
The Coastal Clipper 1 service runs through my home village and all the recent changes mean that many of the former Excel Enviro 400's are now appearing on the route, so i have been timing my daily bike ride to coincide when the route passes at the top of North Road in the village. 33816 is seen above on Thursday afternoon heading towards Martham.
33824 was the first of this afternoon's sightings seen here turning into Cromer Road heading towards Great Yarmouth.
Finally 33817 is pictured just after passing 33824 going in the opposite direction heading to Martham.
Camera back in pocket and it was on with the Bike Ride!
Stay Safe everyone and Happy Easter, Not too much Chocolate!!

Ten Year Time Tunnel ~ April 2010
However, a trip out to Lowestoft on the 17th made up some of the deficit. Of interest that day was that Nightingales of Beccles was using Mercedes Benz Vario O814D HIL8446 on town services. The bus had an interesting history which started when it was new with Midland Fox as P114HCH in June 1997. Nightingales later acquired the vehicle from near neighbours Berry (Waylands Minibus) in May 2009 and re registered it as HIL8446.
The final photo is of a Norse (Norfolk County Council) decker on standby at the Postwick Park & Ride site on the eastern outskirts of Norwich. Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident 7164 PN03ULX was new to London General in March 2003 and was acquired by Norse seven years later. The following May it suffered fire damage and was subsequently scrapped

New Excels on loan at Caister Road
A batch of the new Scania Excel liveried vehicles has arrived at Great Yarmouth this morning for use on the X1/X11 services on the coast. With a large number of the vehicles being surplus to requirements on Excel routes between Norwich and Peterborough due to the ongoing Covid 19 situation, First have decided to employ some on the East Coast for a time as the vehicles are still under warranty.
The arrivals noted so far are 36912/36914/36916/36917/36918/36919, we have been informed that possibly another is due to make seven in total.
Many Thanks to First for info and photographs.

Beccles Service In 1988 ~ 6th April 2013
In response to that posting, Syd Eade emailed the following day by sending me a photo of how things used to be in 1988 - then almost 25 years ago!
Syd writes....'Your latest blog entry of the Anglian decker on 581 just shows how the route has changed over the years for the better. 25 years ago the service had been reduced to just a single journey each way, service 615, and that could easily be handled by a 16 seat minibus, and it served Aldeby and Burgh St Peter too!'
As previously mentioned, the loading on Anglian's decker wasn't that heavy neither so a minibus would have probably coped adequately with the number of passengers carried in 2013
My thanks to Syd for the report and photo. It's interesting to see how times have changed. Even the direct 581 Beccles to Great Yarmouth route has now gone to be replaced by the BorderBus operated 580 Beccles/Bungay to Great Yarmouth service via the James Paget Hospital.

Ensign in March
Ross Newman reports the arrival of another two First Eastern Counties buses at dealers Ensign during the month of March.
They are Volvo B7 66334 MV02VBZ and Volvo B7TL 30900 W774DWX. The Wright Eclipse was the last active B7 at First Great Yarmouth when it left for Norwich in November for further use there. Whilst at Caister Road it was well known for the number of times it was withdrawn from service only to later return to use!
Having transferred from First Essex in February 2013 W774DWX gained the notoriety of being the last W registered bus operating from First Lowestoft's Gasworks Road depot. It had moved to the Suffolk town following an MOT and a livery refresh in late April 2013.
My thanks to Ross for the continuous updates. He finishes his report that by saying he was 'not sure when the next one will be as most bus companies at present have yards full of buses they do not need'.

Unusual Visitor
Breaking the moratorium for just today, there was an unusual arrival at First's Caister Road depot earlier.
The surprise visitor was one of the new Alexander Dennis E400 City bodied Scanias which normally sees use on the Excel service between Norwich and Peterborough
36912 YN69XZS is here for training purposes as some of these deckers are to be employed on the X1/X11/X2 services from Lowestoft/Great Yarmouth to Norwich. Following a reduction in the services operated they are spare vehicles for use here on the east coast releasing older vehicles for other services
My thanks to First for the information and photos
