This afternoon a photo of one of Great Yarmouth Transport’s former Leyland single-deckers appeared on the Reliance Bus Works Facebook page. The municipally owned operator purchased a batch of three unusual Leyland Atlanteans with bodywork by Marshall of Cambridge. Unusual in they were built as a single decker on a double deck chassis.
The batch received fleet numbers 40, 41 and 42 with matching registrations GEX 740F, GEX 741F and GEX 742F and were withdrawn during the 1980s following newer replacements.
I, along with others, assumed the photo to be that of number 40 but on contacting Martyn at Reliance Bus Works he confirmed it was number 41! It has been fully panelled and glazed.
I am grateful to Martyn for the information and his consent to use the photo.
Roy
