Stagecoach Visits EATM

The past weekend saw the East Anglia Transport Museum hold their annual two day London Event at their Carlton Colville site.

As expected, their London vehicles took a prominent part in the event which was also supported by other participants. One interesting arrival was Stagecoach London's ADL E40H / ADL Enviro 400H No 12345 SN64 OGU. Named 'Selkent Ambassador', it celebrates 40 years of Plumstead Garage.

Many thanks to Ashleybus444 for providing the photos.

USA School Buses At Lowestoft?

Syd Eade provides the attached photos which may be of interest and also provides some amusement! The attached poster appeared on Syd's local post box in Pakefield, lamenting the disappearance of town service 103 to Lansdowne Estate.

He says 'Once Lowestoft Corporation service 4A, it became 689 with Lowestoft Joint Services (both every half hour) and from 1977 services 680 and 682 ran every 20 minutes through the Estate. The 680 changed into a 688 on arrival at Elm Tree Cross Roads. Many other variations followed, ending with a 103 which originally ran through to Carlton Colvile, but latterly was just five times a day to Lansdowne Road only and was cancelled when Covid hit.'

Syd adds 'It was never operated with right hand drive American school buses though to my knowledge! As the service is totally covered by the current X2 with the exception of the last two stops, I do not think there is much hope of the run returning commercially.'

He has provided photos of the early times with a Dart running on the 103 in the 'good old days' Many thanks for your contribution Syd which has taken some time to publish due to me being away on a short break.

Royal Norfolk Show

David Bell attended the Royal Norfolk Show last Thursday and thought we might like to see a selection of his photographs taken on the day.

The first shows Konectbus operating the shuttle service from the Norwich Bus Station to the Showground with 606 SN61 CZW performing the duty

Other vehicles included GDS Travel's T700 GDS Volvo/Jonckheere leaving the showground for its home village of Long Sutton;

Completely Coach Travel's BX16 CKO, a Volvo B11R/Caetano Levantee, formerly with Go-North East, is seen heading towards Norwich

JNZ 4301 a Volvo B10M/Van Hool Alizee of Eagles of Castle Acre and YJ55 EZE Volvo B12B/Van Hool Alizee of Salec Travel of Carbrooke both attended. The latter's OKZ 6144 was also present.

Finally a photo of YJ08 NTA a Mercedes with Sitcar coachwork owned by Riddlesworth Hall Preparatory School, Diss. Interestingly they acquired this vehicle from another private school Barnardiston Hall near Haverhill.

West Sussex Bits & Pieces

I have just returned from Worthing on the South Coast and there are a few photos taken over the past few days which may be of interest.

Monday meant a leisurely stroll to Lancing along the A259 coastal road with the first photo being Littlehampton independent A&A Travel's Caetano Levante FJ08 KMF. It was formerly with JB Coaches of Pudsey as J900 JBT. It has also seen service with Arriva The Shires and Classic Coaches but was new to Burtons of Haverhill.

Arriving in Lancing the level crossing providing the focus of attention, although I did get a photo of Stagecoach South's ADL Enviro 200 36030 GX07 HUZ from the railway footbridge working the 9 route to Arundel.

On Tuesday we explored Arundel itself and found two coaches in the car park near the castle entrance. The first was a Scania from Wolf-Reisen of Halberstadt in Germany. HBS-WR200 is one of a fleet of five available for holiday, day and school trips says its website.

The second coach was branded the Spirit of Sussex and registered BF63 ZRA. The legal lettering showed it to be from Go North East of Gateshead and with a fleet number 521 attached. However, my post on Friends of the PSV Circle Facebook Group elicited the information that it was now with Brighton & Hove as part of the coaching unit.

The final photo shows Compass Bus BX11 PTO looking vary smart in the sun at Lyons Farm in Worthing. The Alexander Dennis Trident with E400 bodywork was new to Alexander Dennis as a demonstrator.
