Last Barbie Decker Withdrawn

The end has come for Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL 32210 LT52 WTR. The last Barbie liveried bus at Great Yarmouth depot, it experienced gearbox problems last Tuesday and was towed to the depot that evening.

It was withdrawn earlier today and now faces a final journey to the scrapyard. 32210 didn't quite make it to twenty years in service being new to First CentreWest in October 2002 as their VTL210. CentreWest served the east and west Greater London area. It transferred to First Eastern Counties in May 2010.

I saw it in use that last day on Southtown Road heading towards town with the 8:13 service 8 from the James Paget Hospital to Caister Second Avenue - its regular route. I wondered then how long it had got left in service.

My thanks to First Great Yarmouth for the information.

Roy

  1. Scrap was NEVER on the cards for this one. It had Eastern Bus Enthusiasts name on the file for several years!
