First's Asset Sale

Neil Beasley has emailed me concerning a recent change of policy at First regarding the disposal of vehicles

Following a recent major network revision, a number of surplus First Potteries buses are being disposed of through a "Truck & Plant Assets" online auction.

There are ten First vehicles available in the auction, which closes on August 6th, and they can all be viewed here

Of local interest is LOT 6 - Wright bodied Scania R262DVF. It was new to Eastern Counties as fleet number 562 and had a spell at Northampton before managing to escape to PMT. Bids for it continue to increase with the latest being £1,920

Neil comments 'It's good to see First finally selling on redundant assets and attempting to get a better price for them than what would be offered by the scrap man. With all of the other large groups selling surplus vehicles on, First's "for scrap only" policy must seem ridiculous in the eyes of the shareholders, who would want maximum return on any asset.'

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention Neil and I am also grateful to Neil Chilvers for the photo
